The new 'Yummy' single

The millions of Justin Bieber fans have finally received the news they’ve been waiting for. The superstar has now announced his first single in five years, the R&B-inspired 'Yummy'.

Justin teased the song to his 123 million Instagram followers on Christmas Eve, revealing in a short film it would be the lead single for a new album in 2020.

The Independent newspaper described the track as featuring “low-key synth, bass and mostly restrained vocals from the Canadian, with frequent collaborator Jason ‘Poo Bear’ Boyd listed as a co-writer and producer.” 

Referring to his wife Hailey in the song.

On the song Justin sings, “I’m elated that you are my lady”, clearly referring to his wife Hailey, who he described ahead of the song’s release as his Christmas “gift”.

In the short film released before Christmas, Bieber said: “I feel like this is different from previous albums just because of where I am in my life. I’m excited to perform on the tour. As humans, we are imperfect. My past, my mistakes, all the things I have been through. I believe I am right where I am supposed to be and God has me right where he wants me.” 

He will embark on a US tour.

Bieber has not announced the release date for his new album yet. He will embark on a US tour in support of the album between May and September 2020, but no UK dates have yet been announced.
