Rap
KJ-52 is the rapper from Tampa, Florida you’ll hear on xRhythms with cuts like 'Game Face' and 'Fight Music'.
He’s had plenty of highs and also a fair share of lows since he released his first album in 1997.
Highs include winning the Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album Of The Year in 2004 for ‘It’s Pronounced Five Two’, in 2006 for ‘Behind The Musik’ and 2010 for ‘Five-Two Television’.
Many of the rapper’s adventures and misadventures are detailed in a soon-to-be-published book.
But lows include dealings with a manager who illegally tried to sell an inferior version of the rapper’s 2014 album ‘Mental’. Now many of the rapper’s adventures and misadventures are detailed in a soon-to-be-published book, 'What Happened Was...'.
An eight-song collaboration between US rappers KJ-52 and Poetics to tie in with the book has already been released independently.
Said the rapper, "Over the 20 years of doing music full time, I've accumulated a lot of unique experiences. My hope and desire with my new book and new album is to share a conversation with you, the audience, about some of my greatest triumphs, joys and failures.
Each story comes with its own soundtrack
'What Happened Was...' is a compilation of true stories from my childhood, music, songs, touring and more. And each story comes with its own soundtrack to help you experience exactly what I was feeling when I was going through that moment."
