Female rapper Wande has recently celebrated the one year anniversary of her album ‘Exit’. Released on 24th April last year, this album is her first full-length feature released under the banner of Reach Records.
Signing on to the label in April 2019, Wande became the first female artist in their back catalogue after a 16-year legacy. Despite the significance of that, the rapper only released five singles over her first year with the company, including the track ‘No Ceilings’ in which she raps about her purpose in life (“I made the decision/ before my timer expired/ now my purpose/ Just fulfilling on me/ Elevating/ Ain’t no limits on me…”).
‘Exit’ contains 10 tracks of smooth bars.
Remaining her biggest release to date ‘Exit’ contains 10 tracks of smooth bars including “WAKANDE”, a joyful anthem abundant with Yorubo inflections and language, a nod to her Nigerian heritage.
Wande continuously raps and sings about her faith. On her website, she says “My faith is the core of my music. It’s the reason behind what I do and without it my music wouldn’t be the same.” That same message isn’t just reserved for fans of Christian rap music, as her music has been featured on American sports channel ESPN for basketball, American football and women’s basketball seasons as well as Michelle Obama’s podcast playlist from last year with the track "Blessed Up" appearing alongside the likes of Beyoncé.
When she isn’t recording music Wande is a consultant.
In the year since she dropped her album, Wande has released an EP entitled ‘The Decision’ as well as a remix of "Blessed Up" featuring Lecrae and Mike Todd. When she isn’t recording music Wande is a consultant and has worked with Reach Records and The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs).
The album ‘Exit’ and EP ‘The Decision’ are streaming on YouTube and Spotify and available to purchase on her website and other platforms.
