xRhythms has new music from Seattle-based rapper Peabod.
You may recognise some tracks from the emcee’s hit album ‘Healthy Snacks’, but now the 25-year-old has followed up his earlier success with ‘Backpack’.
Look out for playlisted cuts 'Anti-social', 'Side Hustle', 'Hoodie' and 'Left Out', the latter featuring CCM artist Chad Mattson from popular US band Unspoken. The track boasts the witty one-liners we’ve come to expect from the Peabod.
My God loves all of his children.
Lyrics like “My God loves all of his children/All 7.61billion/That include you and that’s a real good feeling/Makes me wanna dance 'til I can't tell the floor from the ceiling” do well to drive hope with humour.
In a press release, Peabod said, "The 'Backpack' EP was such a fun and important step for me. When I made [debut album] 'Healthy Snacks', it was purely for my own enjoyment. I didn't really have a goal in mind, and I hadn't spent any time thinking critically about who I'd like to be as a hip-hop artist."
"Recording the singles that came together as 'Backpack' was my opportunity to experiment, ask questions, and then define my sound. I had a blast working on these songs, so I hope that comes through to anyone listening."
'Hoodie' is a fun love letter.
And indeed it does. The track 'Hoodie' is a fun love letter to his college sweetheart and wife with lyrics like, “It's time to be bold, He brought the whole team/We'll still be hand-holding when we're oldies/Let's let the world know, show them the gold rings.”
In between his two major projects, the rapper also released a Christmas single, 'Neverending Christmas'.
The track comes kitted with the sleigh bells that make any tune festive, but with lyrics of hope that remind us of the true reason for the season.
