Recently climbing high into the Cross Rhythms Top Ten is the single 'Love Me Like You' by The Young Escape.
If the name of the act hasn’t yet registered with you, let me assure you that their electronic-tinged pop sound is making new fans wherever they play in the States.
The group hail from Riverside, California, and consists of siblings singer/keyboard player McKenna Johns, guitarist Ryan Johns, bassist Kyrsten Johns, and drummer Luke Johns.
They started making music together in grade school in 2010. By the time they were teenagers, they were writing their own songs drawing upon their Christian faith. Signed to Capitol Christian Music Group in 2017, their first single was 'Good Life'.
'Good Life' is the perfect song to get you dancing.
The website 365 Days Of Inspiring Media described it as one of their “favourite pop worship songs of the year”. The reviewer went on to call it the “perfect song to get you dancing, and think about the deeper things in life,” and the latter thought is reflected in the lyrics:
"I never knew I could find peace
Until you found me
Showed me who I could be
And now I know that this is the good life".
The group’s second single, 'Neverfade', was released in March 2018, and the band joined ground-breaking worship man Crowder for a tour of the US. But it’s their latest track featuring rapper Nobigdyl which is proving to be an xRhythms hit.
The more we understand God’s love, it makes us unstoppable.
Said McKenna Johns on The Christian Beat, “I think the more we understand God’s love, it makes us unstoppable because we never have to depend on people or on our circumstances to fill us up. So, for all of the broken situations in life that don’t make sense, and for everything that’s fallen out of place, know that you haven’t fallen out of God’s love and that you never will.”
'Love me like you' is now available on various music platforms.
