I’ve never really been picky with music. I can literally listen to anything, and as a writer, I pay more attention to the lyrics, cause that’s obviously what makes me fall in love with a song.
Lately I’ve been trying to broaden my ‘horizon’. Basically, I’ve been listening to different kinds of music that I would usually not listen to. I partly blame TikTok for this, but let’s not dwell on that.
I’m not writing this because I’ve lately discovered a new genre or something, nope. I’m writing this because there’s a wave that’s been in existence for a while that I think has been overlooked. They are some real bangers!
It’s not just one or two songs, nope, one is a whole album, another an EP, and some singles just dropping on the side too. I’m sure at this point you’re a bit fed up with my rambling and just wondering what I’m on about.
The first artist is literally taking me back to my roots.
The first artist is literally taking me back to my roots giving me the whole party vibe, whilst the second one just speaks to the heart, not only lyrically but with the beats as well and it’s such a vibe you just can’t sit still. The third one tells us a story, with his EP, one some of us may already be familiar with about Jesus. But he entwines his personal story with it, and it definitely does inspire us.
Every single one of these artists has literally changed my perspective on how gospel music usually is or is expected to be, and it’s beautiful to see. They are truly expressing their God-given talent in their own way and taking us on a journey on what it means to unapologetically love God and be yourself.
I’m becoming a professional fan.
I truly believe I’m becoming a professional fan, hence why I’m currently recommending their music because there isn’t anyone I haven’t listened to. I've convinced myself that somewhere inside of me there might be a very well hidden calling towards music, *hint* it definitely is not in singing.
We’ve got vibes, we can see love, we can see life, and we can see the message in every single one of their songs, and I mean what greater accomplishment could an artist want to have with their music? All I can say is prepare to be blessed because I definitely have been.
Music can be a major influence on our feelings and emotions.
We all know that music can be a major influence on our feelings and emotions, but there’s a way these songs uniquely stir up peace, love, grace and satisfaction, it truly is a ministry.
In this particular article I’m highlighting my three top artists in no particular order: Calledout Music, Limoblaze, Marizu. All Nigerian born artists at the prime of their youths, praising God in their songs work with a flex.
They’ve all recently released beautiful bodies of work, and as your musical genie for the day, I’ll be leaving links to their Album/EP in this blog.
Now go forth, listen and be blessed!
