TobyMac is unquestionably the most popular artist in Christian music. Having spent the years 1987 to 2000 with the group DC Talk, who enjoyed such Platinum-selling recordings as ‘Free At Last’ (1992) and ‘Jesus Freak’ (1995), when DC Talk’s three members – Toby, Kevin Max and Michael Tait – embarked on solo careers, it was TobyMac, real name Toby McKeehan, who soared into the stratosphere.

In fact, Toby’s solo career has been even more successful than his years with DC Talk. Toby’s wily blend of pop, hip-hop, R&B and dance has found him a vast audience. In fact, each of Toby’s six solo albums – 2001’s ‘Momentum’, 2004’s ‘Welcome To Diverse City’, 2007’s ‘(Portable Sounds)’, 2010’s ‘Tonight’, 2012’s ‘Eye On It’ and 2015’s ‘This Is Not A Test’ – have gone Platinum, a first for any Christian artist.

'I Just Need U', has gone on to become his biggest solo hit.

His latest single, 'I Just Need U', has gone on to become his biggest solo hit. His performance of the single gained a rapturous reception at the FOX & Friends’ concert last week.

In America, the FOX News channel has not only become a very important television supporter of Conservative politics (President Donald Trump has appeared regularly on the morning show FOX & Friends), but FOX’s All-American Summer Concert Series have been sell-outs with New York concert audiences, who have been able to recently watch rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd, pop hitmaker Phillip Phillips and Christian music stars like MercyMe and TobyMac.

Toby spoke to the Christian Post about 'I Just Need U': “It's really a deeply personal song. It's about my own situations, but I find when I write about what I'm going through, as I try to walk through this crazy world and stay faithful, it relates to people.”

I think people relate to my music because I'm going through the same things they are.

Numerous children were in the audience in Times Square to watch the performance. When asked by Christian Post if he feels a responsibility to the next generation, TobyMac maintained that he does. “I think people relate to my music because I'm going through the same things they are,” he shared. “I'm raising kids, so I'm just looking at them.”
