The new season of The Voice kick-started this year with their second week of blind auditions taking place last Saturday.
Staring in the show and winning a place in the battles was the Cornwall based singer-songwriter and church worship leader Esther Cole, one of xRhythms very own contributors.
Performing “Let Me Down Slowly” by Alec Benjamin, Esther impressed the judges and Olly Murs and Sir Tom Jones both turned their chair for her.
“You have a beautiful voice”, commented Sir Tom Jones, “I thought, I don't want to let this girl go. I couldn't not hit [the buzzer]. You have a lovely voice.”
Accompanied with her was best friend Yana Bing.
Esther did not come alone to her audition. Accompanied with her was best friend Yana Bing, who also auditioned with an energetic performance of “Stupid Love” by Lady Gaga.
Though Yana didn’t make it through to the next rounds, regretting his decision to not turn the chair, Murs expressed, “I loved the energy man, that’s my kinda act as well.”
With over 700,000 YouTube views in the first four days, Esther has a bright journey ahead of her. She has joined Sir Tom Jones’ team and is next to face the battle rounds.
Watch her on The Voice as it continues on Saturday evenings on ITV.
