Are you a creative person? Maybe you’re like me and absolutely love a DIY or craft project. Or maybe you don’t consider yourself to be that creative, but would love to try something different. Wherever you’re at, today I wanted to share with you some fun projects to help you get creative.
TIE-DYE
If you’re looking for a fun summer project, tie-dye is for you. Grab an old white t-shirt, sweatshirt or joggers (you can use different colours, but I think white or a paler colour works the best), some elastic bands, and get some tie-dye bottles (they’re very inexpensive and available online and in craft stores), and you’re set to go.
I personally love getting more of a pastel colour effect.
The fun thing with tie-dye is there are so many different ways to do it. Whenever I tie-dye, I personally love getting more of a pastel colour effect. To do this I tend to wash out the colours a little longer so they fade, and then the colours become paler and less vivid.
You can make your tie-dye piece whatever you want, you can use just one colour dye, two, or even go wild and use multiple colours.
It can be bright or more subtle pastel, and there’s even a variety of patterns you can go for too. Check out this video to see how to tie-dye:
Scrapbook
When I was younger, I was forever making scrapbooks. From childhood memories, every family holiday or school trip I went on, I was always making scrapbooks to keep every memento and store any precious photos.
I’ve been thinking recently, I would love to start scrapbooking again to document every special memory; I recently got engaged, and I’m thinking about making a scrapbook to document this special time right up until the wedding.
The joy of scrapbooking is you can be free with it!
You could make a scrapbook of a holiday, a party, a birthday, your year so far, or you could even make one for someone else. The joy of scrapbooking is you can be free with it!
Fill it with whatever is most special to you, whether it be photos, tickets (train, plane, cinema, or concert, the possibilities are endless), special notes or letters, whatever you want to document and remember.
Scrapbooking is such a relaxing way of being creative, you can sit down and do it for hours or build it up over time. Pinterest is full of ideas for scrapbooking, have a look and you’ll find lots of inspiration if you’re struggling to get started.
Scrapbooks are very inexpensive to buy, all you need is a blank paged book and your craft supplies. You can go as wild with this as you want, but here are some ideas of different things to use:
- Coloured and patterned paper
- Washi tape
- Letter & Decorative Stickers
- Stamps
- Ribbon
- Paint
- Felt tips, fine liners, pencils

Macrame
Something that’s been so popular in the past year is macrame, in both the crafting world along with people wanting to decorate their home with these intricate wall hangings.
I’ve personally never tried creating macrame, however, I have friends who make it and the end result looks amazing.
Create something that’s a little more advance.
If you’re looking to create something that’s a little more advance and also something that will decorate your home, then try out making these macrame wall hangings. With macrame you can again make it however you want, with different colours and patterns.
