It’s Mother’s Day today! A wonderful day where we get to appreciate our mums and mother figures, acknowledging what they have done and thanking them for it.

Normally we would be able to take our mums out for a meal, or to some nice experience. But in this current lockdown, everything is physically closed and it seems hard to fully celebrate and appreciate our mums.

Here’s a list of a few free things you can do with your mum today to show her that she’s loved.

Make her breakfast in bed

You can’t go wrong with making a lovely warm breakfast and serving her the delicious surprise in her bed.

Go for a walk and coffee with her

This could be a great time to just catch up with your mum, talk about how she’s doing, reflect on some good memories, all while getting some fresh air.

Choose a scenic route or park close to your house, or a short drive away. If the weather is good you can bring some snacks too.

Do some of the housework for her

If your mum is anything like mine, she’s always busy making the house a lovely and comfortable place for the family. So why not relive her abs help her out with a few things?

Acts of service like this can mean a lot to her.

Watch her favourite film with snacks

Cinemas might be closed, but you could make a small movie night out of this.

Rent a film that she loves, or find it on Netflix/Amazon. Prepare some snacks, popcorn, crisps, sweets, and sit back and relax together.

Do a creative activity together

If your mum likes being crafty, why not create something together?

This doesn’t have to be super big. You could do some painting, making ornaments, maybe even baking together. There are so many different activities you could do for home, maybe even look on Pinterest for inspiration.

Above all, this really is a day to show your mum how much you love her and how much she means to you. So no matter what you end up doing, just make sure to remind her she’s valued. Have a happy Mother’s Day!
