It’s not a secret that education is going to look different for a while, and this might even affect how many people perform in their examinations.
Year 11’s and 13’s have been excused from their exams this year, but it looks like Year 10’s and 12’s are expected to proceed with theirs as normal next year. Despite the disruption in their learning.
At first glance, this might not look like a big deal because they have a whole year to prepare. However, in reality, many people have been struggling with their mental health as a result of suddenly having to teach themselves a whole curriculum.
If you’re in the same boat, first take a breath and know that you’re not alone.
There are many other people who feel the way you’re feeling right now, despite what your mind might be trying to tell you.
Where there is a will, there is a way.
Secondly, know that there is always a way out. Cliché comment, but “where there is a will, there is a way”.
I’ve been quite encouraged by seeing a petition that was created by Molly Taylor, an A-level student. The petition is appealing to Boris Johnson to have open-book exams in 2021.
They are taking action to help those that have been struggling with their education because of mental health issues or not being in the best learning environment.
At the time of writing this, the petition has over 100 signatures and more are coming in fast. If this is a change that you also want to get behind, I encourage you to sign it too. There is power in unity, and your support can make a difference.
You can have peace in the process of this.
Thirdly, you should also know that you can have peace in the process of this.
I’m generally a chill person. I don’t get stressed often and I have had a lot of peace in the tough situations that I've faced.
I looked at my life and questioned, how it is that I’m able to stay so calm? I’ve experienced some things that could have easily made me anxious, but somehow I had an unexplainable peace throughout it.
As I looked more at this, I realised why. I have the peace of God.
The peace of God will guard our hearts.
There’s a verse in the Bible that says the peace of God, which goes beyond our understanding, will guard our hearts and our minds in Christ Jesus.
In simple terms, this means that God’s peace will keep our hearts and mind in peace. So even if anxious situations pop up, we’re able to receive his peace and walk through it well.
Honestly, I feel like I’m a witness to this. I’ve experienced his peace, multiple times. I want to even say I experience his peace on a daily basis. And I know this is because of my relationship with him.
I can’t imagine walking through the rest of my life without having that peace.
If you would like to receive that same unexplainable peace, you can ask God for it today. Once you experience it, you’ll never want to go without it again.
