Has this been your cry of late?
You thought you could handle the snide remarks, but now they have intensified - they have gotten worse. It almost feels as if everyone is against you, it feels as if you are nobody and everyone just wants to crush you down.
Maybe you’ve tried to lose weight, change the way you dress, have worn make-up to try and hide the pain hidden below your face, but nothing seems to make them stop.
The sad reality about bullying is the emotional scars it leaves behind.
The sad reality about bullying is the emotional scars it leaves behind, and the realisation that the people bullying you are really broken and sad people who inflict pain on others in order to bring you onto their own level.
I am reminded of something beautiful in the Bible that says that in this life we will face many trials and tribulations, but we must take heart, for we have overcome the world.
God doesn’t promise us an easy life, but he does promise that we will make it out victorious.
Maybe you are saying, but I am still facing these bullies every day and it’s not getting better.
I was once bullied for a long time.
I was once bullied for a long time and I used to be called “failure.” I believed this and wore this name for a long time, until one day I looked at myself in the mirror and really analysed that word. I decided to prove my bullies wrong by excelling at my school work and other activities.
It wasn’t easy because every day I would hear this word and be taunted by it, but I had my eye on the prize. I wanted to prove to my bullies that I was a success. I learnt to stand up to them and I made it a point to focus all my energy on excelling at my school work and eventually I did and the bullying progressively stopped.
It might not be that simple for you, but I want to encourage with this:
- For every lie that is said to you, dig deep inside the Bible for the truth.
- For every painful word said to you, look at your bully in the face and see the pain that they carry and tell them to STOP and pray for them.
- For every moment you feel worthless, remember the joy that you bring to those who love you and who truly celebrate you.
- For every moment you feel like ending your life, just remember how much you’ll be missed by those who truly value you.
I overcame bullying by speaking out about it.
I overcame bullying by speaking out about it. I told everyone who would listen about what I was going through. I reported my bullies.
I tried to make friends with at least one person in my grade. Bullies isolate you, so by having one friend I was able to have some form of support.
Stand up to your bully and tell them to leave you alone; tell them to stop, confront them about their actions, and should they hurt you physically, involve your teachers and authorities.
Don’t be silent, don’t suffer alone!
Don’t be silent, don’t suffer alone! God sees your pain, your parents, family and friends who love you see it too. Fight bullying by exposing it. Don’t suffer in silence!
You are much stronger and much tougher than you think!
You are much stronger and much tougher than you think! Don’t give up!
